Celebrating Culture Through Connection

Our History

In April 2002, Proyecto Cultural was born out of a vision shared by Juan and Dana Rodriguez. Concerned about preserving their rich heritage and providing their daughter and the broader community an immersive experience in their cultural roots, they founded an organization dedicated to the vibrant traditions of Mexico. Grupo Folklórico Sangre Azteca began as a small collective of seven passionate individuals. Over the years, it has blossomed into a thriving community with more than 200 dancers, each contributing to the tapestry of knowledge, rhythm, and spirit embedded in Folklórico dance.

A pivotal moment in Proyecto Cultural’s journey came in 2009, when generous patron Robert Lybarger donated a building that transformed into our creative sanctuary. This venue is not just a physical space; it serves as the heartbeat of our activities. Here, dancers rehearse and refine their performances, while community members converge to forge connections, create art, and immerse themselves in the sounds of music that resonate through our walls.

At Proyecto Cultural, we stand at the intersection of tradition and innovation, nurturing a love for cultural expression while fostering a sense of belonging. The legacy of our founders lives on, as we continue to inspire new generations to celebrate their heritage through the power of dance and community engagement.
